National Park Seminary – Forest Glen, MD

I once visited the Seminary with an old friend some 10 yrs ago.  It was in pretty bad shape at the time and most of it’s dwellings were off-limits to the public.  We barely scratched the surface with our exploration and always pondered what it must look like on the inside and beyond the overgrown weeds/forest.  If you’re interested in the history of this place you can do a quick google search and find many articles and facts dating back to the early 1800′s.

My husband and I returned this week and to our surprise we were allowed to explore the grounds and capture some very interesting shots.  I would be lying if I said it wasn’t a tad creepy at times.  Just wondering what could have happened to turn something so incredibly grand into complete and utter ruins crossed my mind quite often. That being said, slowly but surely this once remarkable community is being restored to a thriving and lovely environment where family and friends are one. The residents love the area and look forward to the remaining phases of this restoration to take place.   The images you’re about to see are bits and pieces of the surrounding buildings that will soon be restored into charming single family homes, lofts and condos — if you can image that.
