Last weekend I was invited to photograph a music and movement theme party in Bethesda, MD.  The guest of honor was 2 yr old Michael Shields — what a cutie patootie.  I think it is safe to say, Michael and his friends enjoyed themselves from start to finish.  Two year olds are interesting little people . . . some are incredibly shy, others are willing to explore and be front and center. Here are a few photos that highlight Michael’s special day with family and friends.

This past weekend I had the pleasure of meeting the Hallam family and their adorable son Quin.  It was so much fun to be a fly on the wall and capture some of the highlights of his 1st birthday celebrations.  Without a doubt, this little guy is loved by each and everyone of the people I met. Turning a year old is such a huge milestone, and for all parents it’s a realization of how fast our little ones grow!!  Here are a few of my favorite moments from Quin’s big day. Happy Birthday, Quin!  May your second year be filled with endless discoveries, love and laughter each and every day.

I have to admit, after the age of 8 the enchantment of xmas had been lost for me.  Don’t get me wrong, I was still excited about the anticipation of gifts — giving and receiving, holiday traditions like making ornaments, baking cookies with my mom and spending time with the entire family.  But the real magic — believing in Santa, was gone and with it I lost a little bit of the wonder too. As the years passed I truly forgot how exciting it once was.  But then I had Gavin and the term Christmas spirit took on a whole new meaning — this year it all came rushing back to me and I have to admit, it felt GREAT!  This was the first year he was 100% into everything and anything to do with holiday cheer.  The stories, advent calendars, writing letters to Santa, building gingerbread houses, trimming the tree, singing carols, cookies and milk.  Nothing quite measures that feeling — one forgets how exciting it can be. Here are a few of my favorite holiday snapshots from our house, to grandma’s, to pap’s place.  Without a doubt, holidays are a LOT of work/running around, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world — not one second of it!

I recently had the pleasure of capturing a fun filled afternoon with Dillon, Josh and Zach Baker.  It was fascinating to see how different each of them were –interests, personality and manner.  That being said, there was one constant. They were all incredibly kind and welcomed me and my camera into their world.  We had a blast!  Here are a few of my favorite shots/moments.

Professional, convenient, and affordable!

Hi — Welcome to my blog!  My name is Selena Malott.  I’m a graphic designer by trade, but I enjoy many other aspects of being creative in my free time. Painting, drawing, illustrating and of course photography. Over the past 6 years I’ve had the opportunity to photograph many children in our neighborhood, not to mention, friends and family.  It’s allowed me plenty of time to hone my craft and familiarize myself with the art of capturing a child’s essence — blending into their world to encourage them to let loose and have fun. I’ve posted a variety of portraits to give you a sense of my style/approach. My favorite aspect of photographing children is watching the moment unfold. If a child is comfortable he/she will let their guard down and show you every side to them . . . before you know it, everyone is having fun and that’s when the magic happens.

If you would like to see other samples of my work, or schedule a shoot
please feel free to email or call me anytime.
